This trip offers once in a lifetime experiences such as, swimming with elephants, feeding the elephants by hand or meeting baby elephants born here in Chiang Mai. (We don’t work with elephants captured in the wild and babies get to stay with their moms) You will meet beautiful Asian elephants and learn how to approach and communicate with them, make elephant medicine, bathe them and walk with them through the jungle sanctuary to forage for fresh healthy food. Learn about their history in Thailand and how your purchase of an elephant experience with our organization helps to create a safe and permanent home for them. Chai Lai Orchid’s Elephant Sanctuary is one of the best elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai. Relax at the Chai Lai Orchid cafe and enjoy delicious fresh food with epic views of the valley.

Make elephant friends at our rescue elephant camp! Feed them snacks, take selfies, and learn how to approach them and give them simple commands. Each elephant has their own mahout, who will show you how to speak to them, stay with you for the duration of your experience, and tell you about the personality of their beloved elephant. (Please note: we do not offer elephant rides.)
Explore the lush jungle landscape as you take a walk through the jungle with your elephant. This helps keep the elephants healthy and active and allows them to forage for fresh vegetation along the way.
After walking through the jungle, what’s better than cooling off in the river by giving your elephant a bath? Elephants love playing in the river, so be ready to get wet! They love splashing and giving wet kisses.
Our cafe serves fresh clean food made to order (no buffet). Enjoy a traditional vegetarian meal and fresh seasonal fruits as you take in the beautiful jungle views. Please let us know beforehand if you have any dietary restrictions so we can accommodate them. Other drinks are available at an additional cost.
Our English-speaking guides come from the local indigenous community which has lived with Asian elephants for thousands of years. They share their wisdom to give visitors insight into the behaviour and needs of elephants. The elephant caretakers, called “mahouts” will stay with you the entire time ensuring safety for each guest and elephant
